Galerie Bart is proud to present Femke Dekkers and Britte Koolen at Enter Art Fair this year. Enter Art Fair is Scandinavia’s largest international art fair and a nexus of creative and commercial exchanges. The annual four-day event takes place in Copenhagen, and brings the global art community together to discover and acquire the best of contemporary art from the world’s leading galleries and their artists.
Femke Dekkers (1980, NL) uses photography as her medium, with her studio as her subject. She transforms the studio into a dynamic canvas, employing materials such as canvas, paper, wood, and tape. Her playful process merges physical space with her camera, creating intricate sets that blur the lines between art and environment. This exploration of lines, surfaces, and patterns invites viewers into her imaginative world. Her recent series of analogue prints delves deeper into perception, layering multiple negatives in the darkroom. The result is a striking monochromatic narrative, where bold lines draw the viewer’s gaze and challenge their perception of space.
Britte Koolen (1994, NL) embraces minimalist principles, focusing on reuse, arrangement, and reduction. Her work incorporates geometric shapes—circles, triangles, and squares—demanding precision and inviting viewers to explore the depths created by shadows and materials. While she often removes imperfections, Britte sometimes embraces them, transforming them into essential elements of her art. Recently, she has shifted away from her typical palette of reds, yellows, purples, and blacks, opting instead for the natural colours of her materials, highlighting their inherent beauty.
