We are delighted to present P (Parking) by Kevin Bauer, a thought-provoking installation in our garden. This work builds on Kevins’s previous installation, presented during this year’s KunstenLandschap art tour, where it captivated audiences with its intriguing blend of the familiar and the enigmatic.
In P, an abandoned car and a light post stand together sunk into the earth’s surface. The scene invites viewers to let their imaginations roam—what might have happened to this car? As with much of Kevin’s work, this piece encourages reflection on the ever-changing world. What do we leave behind, and how will the utilitarian artifacts of today integrate into the ecosystems and narratives of future generations when their original purposes have faded away?
Here, the car—once a symbol of technological progress, independence, and mobility—is rendered functionless, stripped of its original utility. This disarming transformation of a common object invites participation in a playful yet profound meditation on the intersections of the past, present, and future.
This installation in the garden serves as a prelude to Kevin Bauer’s upcoming solo exhibition, Eras[e], which will be on view at the gallery from 25 October until 30 November.
