Galerie Bart is proud to present The Unguarded Moment, a solo exhibition featuring the work of painter Wim Jacobs. Wim’s goal is painting in itself, creating the work during the process. However, certain elements are always recognizable in his work. These elements, but also new forms take on an increasingly prominent role. Layer by layer, Wim seeks synergy between form, figure, texture and colour.
The series shown in the exhibition is dominated by experimentation. Recently, Wim exchanges his signature white background for a coloured one. His work is mainly abstract, but now figurative forms are also finding their way onto the canvas. He also works with new materials such as oil sticks and spray paint. This makes the work more spatial, the shapes and colours even more sharply aligned. What remains is the naive playfulness and the impression that everything has only been placed on the canvas by chance. But the well-balanced composition and strong sense of colour reveal the skill of the maker.
